Launch of “Skillathon” – Empowering Students With Future-Ready Skills

FLO Kanpur, led by Chairperson Ms. Kirti Shroff launched “Skillathon”, North India’s first skill-based learning platform for high school students. The initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2023, aiming to empower students with essential skills for the future. Skillathon is designed for students in Classes 9 to 12, offering an experience across 4 key 21st-century skill areas, including Design & Innovation, Artificial Intelligence, Startup & Entrepreneurship, and Stock Market & Financial Literacy.

The initiative was hosted by prominent schools in Kanpur, including DPS Kalyanpur, Allenhouse Public School Khalasi Lines, and Sir Padampat Singhania Education Centre, in collaboration with prestigious universities such as Atlas Skilltech University, BML Munjal University, and Masters’ Union. Over 2,300 students attended workshops on STEM and non-STEM careers across 10 leading schools in the city.

The schools involved included 750 students from Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, 400 students from Allenhouse Public School, 250 students from Sir Padampat Singhania Education Centre, 800 students from DPS Kalyanpur, and 100 students from GD Goenka School.

From these schools, 160 students registered for workshops in STEM and non-STEM fields. Skillathon featured a mix of hands-on workshops, expert mentorship, and a collaborative learning atmosphere, providing students with invaluable opportunities to explore and develop critical skills like ideation, validation, and effective communication.

The Skillathon schedule includes:

  • May 10–11: Design & Innovation at DPS Kalyanpur, Faculty Partner- Atlas SkillTech University
  • May 10–11: Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning at Allenhouse Public School, Faculty Partner- BML Munjal University
  • May 17–18: Startup & Entrepreneurship at Sir Padampat Singhania Education Centre, Faculty Partner- Masters’ Union
  • May 24–25: Stock Market & Financial Literacy at Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Faculty Partner- Masters’ Union

The initiative will conclude with a felicitation ceremony on May 26, 2025 at the Merchants’ Chamber, Kanpur, where the winners from all 4 skill modules will be honoured. A motivational session by author and speaker Ankur Warikoo will also take place, offering inspiration to the participating students.
