Poonam Sharma is a leading proponent of Ayurvedic products globally. She is associated with the Baidyanath Group, one of India’s oldest and leading Ayurvedic brands, founded over a 100 years ago by her husband’s family.
Her husband, Anurag Sharma, is the Joint-MD of Baidyanath and a Member of Parliament from Jhansi-Lalitpur. However, Poonam in her own right is also a leading industrialist and philanthropist. She travels extensively across the world to promote and educate people on the benefits of Ayurvedic medicines, tonics, and cosmetics. Poonam was also the head coordinator of the Rani Laxmibai Public Schools and takes a keen interest in its affairs. Through her efforts, the school has expanded to 3 branches educating 4500 children and has been voted as the best day boarding school by Magazine Career 360.

activities:
Poonam is the director of Veerangana Foundation that is instrumental in organizing health camps, to not only provide medical care in rural areas but also educate villagers and creates health awareness. The foundation works to empower women and support children in education and vocational training enabling them to be financially independent. She works selflessly in the Bundelkhand region to direct the activities of the foundation.
Poonam is also member trustee of Pt. Vishwanath Sharma Hindu Charitable Trust, which supports and financially aids various activities like setting up and maintaining temples, gaushalas, educating women to make self-sufficient through various courses like beauty and makeup training, sewing lessons, embroidery, and painting. The trust has also setup a Vedic boarding school for underprivileged children imparting instruction in Vedic studies, math, and
computer sciences, thus giving them the tools to succeed in today’s world.
Hailing from a business and political family, but having been raised in an Army background, Poonam has always strived to combine the three, to best suit society and bring up her children in the same mould, while supporting her husband and family. She has always believed the with privilege comes responsibility and the need to return to society what has so abundantly been
given to her. Thus, she volunteers with a school for special needs children in Jhansi, a charitable hospital for the underprivileged and regularly organizes camps to provide medical care to villagers around the Bundelkhand region. Camps for police, paramedical and para-military organizations are also conducted regularly, in an ode to her Armed forces background.
Poonam has been associated with the women’s chapter of FLO for 18 years
and has been active in it.
She has travelled extensively all over the world – major countries of Europe, Asia, Africa and to United States of America, Canada, and Australia.
