Young FLO’s Fellowship Event of the year was organized on December 10, 2010 at the Sabyasachi Carma Store in Mehrauli. It was an interactive session with Vidya Balan and Sabyasachi Mukherjee on Warp and Weft – Binding India’s Past, Present and Future.
It was a wonderful opportunity for the members to learn more about India’s rich and varied textiles, the revival of dying traditional crafts and how each and every one of us can play a part in preserving our country’s heritage.
Sabyasachi talked about his project ‘Save the Sari’, under which he helps the weavers by providing them ideas, colours and design inputs. These beautifully woven saris will be available and the proceeds from the sales will go directly towards supporting the livelihood of these weavers.
None other than Vidya Balan could be the true representative of Sabyasachi’s ‘Save the Sari’ campaign. She spoke of her love of the 9 yards wonder wrap and said that a sari brings out the ultra femininity in a woman. She also added that she doesn’t believe in the size zero battle and that wearing a sari, she feels her best.
This aesthetic as well as thought provoking event was well attended by the members.
