Woven Wonders of India

FICCI FLO Mumbai in collaboration with Sejal Mehta, Yamminni weaves and Hena Designs organised an Artisans Evening “Woven Wonders of India “. This event was an exhibition where FLO Mumbai members displayed their products in an ambience of fun and lights. There were creations from jewelry, clothing, home accessories, home décor, beauty treatments etc.

There was a Sundowner Fashion Show Curated by Sejal Mehta and supported by Yaaminni – Madhavi Talupuru who
believes in showcasing the roots of Indian tradition in all her collections.Although she is modern in her outlook. MADHAVI ‘s amalgamates the essence of Indian craftsmanship with a variety of textiles. Her love for Indian culture, heritage and art helps her think out of the box and cater to the clients.

In the fashion show Yamminni showcased Indias rich heritage in weaves like Kalamkari, Paithani, Banasari, Ikkat Pochampally where the models walked the ramp wearing dupattas of different weaves.

Paithani from Aurangabad, one of Indias richest hand woven Indian sari is the best chosen amongst brides-to-be, revealing the royal, imperial and the elegant side of their personality, across celebrations. Commonly known as Pattan, the work on the sari shines with designs made of gold and silk with lavish kaleidoscopic pallu.

Banarasi collection focused on immensely opulent embroidery, fine silk and brocade work and even today holds status for their mughal inspired designs, with intricate intertwining floral and foliate motifs, kalga and bel and a string of upright leaves called jhallar as rich border designs.

Pochampally Dupatta or Pochampalli ikat is a Dupatta made in Bhoodan Pochampally, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, Telangana State, India. They have traditional geometric patterns in “Paagadu Bandhu” (Ikat) style of dyeing.

Members had an evening where they could shop for the coming festive season and networked with each other on their businesses.
