FICCI Ladies Organization (FLO) Jaipur chapter organised a unique workshop to learn the elegant art of Ikebana (Japanese flower decoration) for the members. A eighteen-member delegation from the Sogetsu School of Japan taught the skills of the Ikebana style of the school.
The head of the delegation, Mr. Chosei Sawa and Mrs. Norika Yabuta gave an interesting lac-dam (lecture demonstration). Mr. Sawa said that there are various styles Ikebana and in each style the main stems change their positions and angles according to principles made for grasping the various shapes and patterns. By studying these patterns, the student discovers that a branch can look entirely different depending on its angles of inclination and the direction in which it is pointing. Two styles, basic upgright and basic slanting are the foundation of all other variations. The delegation emphasize on the fact the Indian and Japanese have a similar sprit of worshiping god through flower.
The Chairperson of the FLO Jaipur Chapter, Ms. Apra Kuchhal said that flower decorations are integral part of the Indian household. The Ikebana style of flower decoration which the members have learnt today will value add to their homes.
