Following YFLO Hyderabad’s theme for the year ‘Women leading the future of India’- Young FLO Chairperson, Ms. Samia Alam Khan and committee members organised an interactive learning session with Ms.Kavitha Kalvakuntla, a Member of Parliament and Social Activist,

The speaker said that Indian women can play multiple roles in their lives with inspite of the limitations on them in a predominantly Patriarchal Society.
She expressed her happiness over the growth in the Literacy rate for women in India and said that it’s an exemplary achievement for a country like India.
She highlighted the contribution of women in the economy of the country saying that research has proved that women alone drove the direction of sales for the entire e-commerce Industry in the past few years. It is a well-known fact that, India was able to withstand the recession that hit the world over in 1997-98 and 2007-2008, only due to the small savings in rural banks by women.
Speaking about the achievements of Indian Women, she shared that these kind of accomplishments of Indian women have to be highlighted in the international Media rather than the Nirbhaya incident. Moreover it’s a known fact that crime over women is a world phenomena and not exclusive just to India.
Further talking about Leadership she said that according to her it is the ability to live life according to ones own choices. It is about taking independent decisions regarding education, choice of career and most importantly marriage and when to have a child. In her view women are more sensitive, inclusive and focused and hence they make better Leaders.
Being a strong social activist she solicited the help of FLO/YFLO members to aid the government in working toward Education of the Girl child and rural women.
She emphasized on having a vision saying that ‘Vision without Action is a daydream’. She urged the members to take some action for the up liftment and overall development of women in areas of education and small businesses
Lastly, she concluded by saying that ‘A strong woman stands up for herself, but a powerful woman stands up for every woman’.
After her enlightening talk, she indulged in answering a few questions from members.
In the end, all members and the speaker bonded over some hi tea and snacks.
Going further members had an interesting and engaging Q&A session where they asked her about women as leaders, change management and qualities of a leader. Not only was the session interesting, it left the members awe inspired and motivated.
The session was very well attended with more than 150 members bonding over a scrumptious High Tea spread.
