The event got together all stakeholders who would make it possible to get more women employed in schools as Security Guards, Office Attendants in Administration, Bus Drivers and Bus helpers, Canteen Staff and Management. It also stated that having more women in schools helps address the issue of safety of children. Also, for the women coming into employment perhaps for the first time, schools provide an excellent and secure environment to work in. Chief Guest was Ms. Amruta Devendra Fadnavis (Chief Ministers wife & Deputy Vice President Axis Bank. Also the other guests of Honour were Ms. Indu Shahani- Ex- Sheriff of Mumbai & Principal- HR College & Ms. Sonia Sethi- Transport Commissioner.
Key takeaway: The Chief Minister’s wife lauded the intiative. The Transport Commissioner promised to try and look at the law that says the women have to be 10th pass, and try instead to bring it down to 8th pass. School principals, NGOs, Bus contractors, Trainers who will be training these girls for free, were very, very enthused by the initiative and everyone signed a pledge to seal their commitment.
