Verse to Visual

FLO Chennai, under the leadership of Chairperson Dr. Divya Abhishek, conducted a truly inspiring event “Verse to Visual” at Forum Art Gallery. With the support of Joint Treasurer Ms. Ruchita Saraogi and Spark: Movies, Music, and Literature vertical heads, Ms. Ashu Lodha and Ms. Priya Tulsyan. The event was hosted by past Chairperson Ms. Shalini Biswajit and guided by renowned artist Ms. Thejomaye Menon.

Ms. Shalini shared her personal experience of climbing Mount Everest and the hardships she faced during the journey. She explained how these challenges inspired her to create a painting, discussing the emotions and characterization behind the artwork. She took the members through the process of transforming a verse into a visual piece, encouraging them to use their creative imagination to convert their poetry into compelling artwork. The members presented their poems as well. Ms. Shalini and Ms. Thejomaye offered their visual interpretations of these verses.

Ms. Thejomaye Menon also shared her “Five Elements” series, which explored the connection between the natural elements—Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space—and their representation in art.

The successful event concluded with a renewed sense of creativity and inspiration, as members were encouraged to explore how poetry and visual art can intersect, transforming verses into profound and beautiful artistic representations.
