Valentine’s day is universally celebrated as an expression of love, love for the beloved. But on Valentine’s day, 2014, this love acquired a different hue; love for God and love for all humanity! Members of Ahmedabad Chapter had the good fortune to experience a most beautiful and novel celebration of this love.
The setting was mystical, Amdavad ni Gufa and the rendition of the great poet Kabir’s dohas, ethereal. First, Shraddha Mehta regaled the audience with her mellifluous voice and soulful rendering of Kabir’s dohas and Meerabai’s Bhajans. Shradha and Reena Ginwalla interspersed this with their explanations of Kabir’s life, his philosophy and the deeper meanings of his dohas.
Kaluramji, an artiste from the Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh, along with his troupe, gave a different aspect to the dohas with his robust style of singing. He too explained the gist and essence of these dohas in his own style. The entire event served the audience an out of this world experience.
The message of universal love and brotherhood, of cleansing one’s soul, the ephemeral nature of life and attaining unity with The Lord was very eloquently conveyed by Reena who was so ably supported in this venture by both the artistes.
Vandana Agarwal, FLO Member from Ahmedabad facilitated this event.
