FLO Mumbai, in collaboration with The UAE-India CEPA Council (UICC), convened a business roundtable involving over 40 women business owners and entrepreneurs to discuss opportunities to leverage the benefits of the UAE-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
The UAE delegation included the participation of H.E. Abdulnasser Alshaali, PhD, the Ambassador of the UAE to the Republic of India; Mr. Ahmed Aljneibi, Director of the UICC; and Ms. Kawthar Alkharoossi, Investments Supports and Inducements Senior Specialist, UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
FLO National President Ms. Joyshree Das Verma; FLO Mumbai Chairperson Ms. Aarmeen Mogul Dordi; FLO Mumbai Executive Secretary Ms. Samina Khorakiwala; and FLO National Past President and Founder Chairperson of the FLO Mumbai Ms. Kiran Gera.
Ambassador Alshaali highlighted that empowering women entrepreneurs is central to the goals of the UAE-India CEPA. Ms. Alkharoossi from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs delivered an in-depth presentation on investment opportunities in the UAE tailored for Indian women entrepreneurs. Mr. Aljneibi, Director of the UICC, outlined the significant benefits the UAE-India CEPA has brought to women-led businesses.
The UAE-India CEPA offers transformative opportunities for women entrepreneurs in India by facilitating greater market access, lowering tariffs, and simplifying trade processes. It has significantly benefited Indian industries like textiles, jewellery, and handicrafts, where women entrepreneurs hold a particularly strong presence. CEPA has contributed to the strengthening of economic ties between the UAE and India.
In the session, the trade and economic mission representatives of the UAE Embassy clarified members' queries and explained in detail the process of onboarding, registration, engaging with partners, and networking with chambers of commerce to meet global entrepreneurs.
