Tree Plantation Drive to Honor Braveheart Martyrs Through Veer Naris

FLO JKL and iConcept, in association with the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), launched a Tree Plantation Drive on October 28th, 2024 to honor the braveheart martyrs through Veer Naris. The drive was held at Government School, Barui, Akhnoor, as part of their commitment to plant 1,000 trees in memory of Braveheart Martyrs. The initiative, led by Veer Naris (war widows), honors soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation, ensuring their legacy endures.

100 trees were planted with saplings provided by iConcept. Mrs. Ruchika Gupta, Chairperson of FLO JKL, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Veer Naris for their sacrifices. Mrs. Gupta extended special thanks to Mrs. Tanisha Pallan, Director of iConcept, for her contribution. She also acknowledged the support of Brigadier Vinay Sharma, Commander of the 10 Artillery Brigade, and Major Joshi in organising the event.

An appreciation was conveyed to Mr. Vijay Kumar, Principal of Government High School, Barui, and Rashpal Sharma, Sarpanch of Barui Village, for their assistance. FLO JKL members Nandita Bajaj (Joint Executive Secretary), Minu Chawla, Deepti Gandotra, and Shipra Aggarwal, participated in the event.

The drive featured patriotic cultural performances by schoolgirls, inspiring attendees with songs and dances that evoked a sense of pride and nationalism. Refreshments were provided to children, who were also encouraged to pursue careers in the armed forces.

In a moving gesture, Veer Naris planted trees marked with placards bearing the names of the martyrs. Each Veer Nari was honored with a shawl, a memento, and sweets as tokens of appreciation for Diwali as well.
