Aligning with the FLO vision, designated platforms were created for a Startup pavilion, an initiatives pavilion for grassroots and FLO promoted entrepreneurs as well as a FLO pavilion which will be a space for visitors to learn about FLO and network.
We extend our appreciation and gratitude to the Style Tatva mentors, Smt. Manjula Reddy and Smt. Rekha Lahoti, StyleTatva Convenor Smt. Aparna Reddy and Co-Convenors Smt. Radhika Agarwal and Smt. Ritu Agarwal for immense dedication and commitment in the grand success of Style Tatva 2023.
In this edition of Style Tatva, a special Initiative Pavilion was created to promote and create visibility for Telia Rumal, the initiative for the year. Telia Rumal is a unique textile art form that originates from Telangana and is characterized by its intricate designs and the use of natural dyes, particularly the process of oil-based resist dyeing.
The craft has historical significance and is deeply rooted in the cultural heritage of Telangana. This year at FLO Hyderabad we are making efforts to bring back this traditional craft, which had seen a decline in recent years.
We have been working closely with the weavers of Puttapaka Village providing skill development programs, design interventions, and creating avenues for collaborations with mainstream designers. The aim is to preserve the traditional techniques, revitalize the knowledge and skills associated with Telia Rumal, and ensure the sustainability of the craft.
We are setting up a loom to provide a unique and immersive experience for visitors to appreciate the artistry and craftsmanship involved in weaving, and to gain a deeper understanding of the cultural and technological aspects of this ancient craft. We have also allocated stalls spaces in the pavilion for FLO promoted entrepreneurs and grassroots women led businesses.
Chairperson Ritu Shah affirmed that, “keeping in line with the vision & a shared commitment to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, Style Tatva Edition 3, was curated with the soul of Sustainability!” Sustainable steps were taken towards promoting environmental responsibility such as:
From disposable cups to wearable fashions, our dedication to sustainability runs deep as we recognize the pressing need to prioritize the well-being of our planet. Through the mesmerizing display of wearable art, we aim to showcase sustainable practices, materials, and designs, encouraging attendees to embrace a greener future.
