WE Skilling Initiatives – Trainings, October, November and December 2019

These trainings provided a rare and golden opportunity to women from underprivileged and rural backgrounds. In the skill schools, they learn practical skills and improve their ability to come out of their comfort zones and interact with other people. This increases their confidence as well thereby being a venue for both soft skill and technical skill training.
The we skilling initiatives are headed by Dr. Neha Sharma, Jt. Secretary and head of the skilling initiative. FLO Uttarakhand executed all skilling programs in collaboration with Trikon Society, a renowned Uttarakhand NGO founded by Dr. Nirmala Sharma with a track record of skilled more than 5000 underprivileged and rural women in Uttarakhand. A total of 250 women were skilled in the FLO collaborated training centres.

Objectives of the course:
•  To introduce the trainees to various commercial aspects of the apparel industry.
•  To understand the fashion business.
•  To provide a balanced mix of theory and practical knowledge tied up with several situations in the styling industry.
•  To introduce students the rudiments of sketching and its perspectives.
•  Focus on experimental learning thorough understanding of basic and simple styling solutions to challenging authentic results

Learning outcome:
After Finishing the course trainees shall be able to.
•  Exhibit basic skills in pattern making/draping and garment construction to support their design.
•  To undertake independent study and research, self and peer evaluation and provide an appropriate response to any professional situation.
•  Demonstrate a personal design philosophy.
•  Exhibit full range of transferable skills.
•  Exhibit their innovative design collection with the specified target market-foremost in the design process.
