Session with Fitness Expert Luke Coutinho

FLO Jaipur organized a session with Luke Coutinho, which was a power-packed session. Some of the take-away from the event.

We need a stress free, target free and healthy living.

  1. For that you must have control over your thoughts which needs efforts, discipline and mindset change.
  2. We all are living with a mindset in regards to health, emotions and diseases. And marketing plays a very imp role in changing this mindset.
  3. Human body is a product of nature. We need to align it with nature in regards to good sleep; eating habits and thinking. We need to go back to basics … our roots.
  4. Four pillars- Eat right; move more; sleep well and emotional balance.
  5. The four following verticals – balanced nutrition; adequate exercise; adequate sleep and emotional health should be aligned properly. All the 4 paradigms should be in balance for holistic health.
  6. Why is life difficult? Food is information to genes. After breast-milk the food that we consume first 11-12 years of our life becomes our food chart for life. So how can quinoa be our staple food? It doesn’t apply. We say wheat doesn’t get digested, but it’s OUR inability to digest gluten as our systems have weakened so much.
  7. If u think or feel guilty you will get fat. According to the book Sapiens… human being must never feel deprived of anything. If you come across an ice-cream which you wish to eat. But your subconscious mind says it has calories; there is a conflict. This fight results in weakening our system and decreases our nerve strength.
  8. Everything in human body is connected with everything. Eat a bowl of ice cream ; enjoy and finish the drama . Body never works on maths … it works on physiology ; biology and chemistry.
  9. We always think that our stomach is not strong enuf to breakdown certain foods .Our mind doesn’t agree that our stomach acid can dissolve even a blade then what to talk of food.
  10. We need to program our subconscious. Go back to your food chain. Go back to mind change, original way of living.
  11. Take protein only if it’s low . Else extra protein will get converted to fat . You need everything for proper functioning of your metabolism . The hormones from carbs ; fats ; proteins all have their imp roles .
  12. We must also inculcate intermittent fasting in our lifestyle. Our metabolic fire decreases after sunset . So there should be a gap of 12-13 hours after dinner to eating breakfast . For instance in the Jain system of eating before sunset or dry fasting as in Muslim system .
  13. There are two phases of our body – elimination phase and building phase . Never add food when body is eliminating . This increases inflammation. Today inflammation is major reason  of heart attack. Wherein we had always thought cholesterol to be the major culprit
  14. Fasting detoxifies the body naturally . Today kids are more intuitive that you . They will surely eat when they want to eat . We always try to feed them carbs ; feed them food . Which is not needed
  15. Now coming to adequate sleep. We are not aligned with our biological clock .All mammals except the nocturnal ones sleep before sunset . We extend our sleep way beyond our natural clock to go out in a party or late nights .. and then stress our bodies .
  16. Travel is inevitable and our biological clock changes all the time . But we must plan our travel for our bodies . We must compromise our comfort for our health . Rather than taking a long direct flight.. take a break .
  17. Sleep is very important . Human growth hormones are secreted during sleep . Only if infants sleep ; they grow . We try to wake up our kids to send them for classes. To make them face the world . But they don’t need an instructor to face the world . They need family support . What is right for them is nature .
