About the event/program under the initiative
FLO Indore, organized an orientation workshop for creating hand-painted rakhis at Niranjanpur Basti. This initiative was a part of their efforts to promote rural livelihoods and skill development among underprivileged girls.

Impact
The initiative began with an orientation session. Participants were introduced to the concept of the workshop and the benefits of learning Rakhi making. This was followed by a hands-on session where 10 to 15 girls from Sevabharti, an organization dedicated to skilling underprivileged girls, participated actively.

Key Highlights
The workshop focused on the art of hand-painted Rakhis, a valuable skill that allows the creation of beautiful and personalized gifts. It focussed on the use of vibrant art forms like Pichwai, Mandana, and floral designs in crafting the Rakhis. This not only added an aesthetic element to the workshop but also familiarized the girls with these traditional art forms, potentially sparking an interest in exploring them further.

Expert guidance was provided by FLO Indore committee member, Ms. Gunjan Garg along with Senior Chairperson, Ms. Shweta Agrawal, Ar. Varsha Dagra and a dedicated team of volunteers. The instructors not only taught Rakhi making but also emphasized the transferable nature of the skills being taught. The girls learned painting techniques that can be applied beyond Rakhis, to various surfaces like fabrics, opening doors to further creative endeavours.

Inspiring the participants, FLO Indore Chairperson, Ar Vibha Jain Sethi said – “This initiative goes beyond the immediate purpose of Rakhi making. The techniques you will learn today, has the potential to blossom into a well of creativity. This workshop is a small step in that direction, and we hope it ignites a passion for artistic exploration within each of you”.
