FLO Kolkata Chapter earmarked its mid-year by hosting Ms Maneka Gandhi, Indian Union Cabinet Minister for Women & Child to address FLO Kolkata on 20th September at the Taj Bengal.

Ms Gandhi’s address was riveting with insightful statistics and detailed game-changing policies which this new government was been able to implement and progressive shape welfare of women across the urban and rural landscape of India.

She spoke about the National Policy for Women and its role in reversing the decline in the child sex-ratio in UP among other states, and how the district magistrates of the respective areas are being held responsible for poor progress under the Centre’s ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ a flagship social campaign aimed at protecting and empowering the girl child.
