FLO Mumbai, in collaboration with CSR supporters, hosted a special event titled “Pathways to Excellence” at the SHED Community Center, Kalina, Mumbai on September 4th, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
The event aimed to recognise and support deserving students while providing them with tools for personal and academic growth. The program also included career counseling sessions, led by Ms. Bakhtawar Krishnan, Founder of Inspirus Educational Specialist and FLO Mumbai’s knowledge partner. The sessions allowed the students to explore diverse career paths, with many expressing a strong interest in joining the defense forces, police, and merchant navy.
Ms. Krishnan provided valuable guidance on how students could pursue careers in these fields, including the qualifications and steps necessary to succeed. Her expertise helped the students gain clarity on the opportunities available to them and the pathways they need to follow to achieve their ambitions.
A significant highlight of the event was the awarding of 40 scholarships to meritorious students from Std. 9 and 10, aimed at supporting their further studies.
The event included a session on time management, emphasising the importance of structuring one’s day for optimal productivity. Students were instructed on balancing academics, extracurricular activities, and personal time.
In recognition of Teachers’ Day, the event celebrated the contributions of teachers to student development. The evening concluded with an engaging magic show and sing-along program, providing a welcome respite from academic discussions and fostering a joyful atmosphere.
Ms. Ariana Singhi, a student of Std. 11 and daughter of FLO member Niti Singhi, shared her inspiring journey in social entrepreneurship.
At the age of 13, she founded SWAPS, a brand offering interchangeable sleeves for spectacles.
SWAPS has gained design registration from the Indian Patent Office and is scheduled for a national launch in December. Her brand has made a significant impact, conducting eye camps and converting a children’s newspaper into Braille. She passionately discussed the potential of innovation, encouraging students to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams and contribute positively to society.
“Pathways to Excellence” was a resounding success that combined education, guidance, and celebration, providing students with valuable tools for their academic and personal development.
