Online Digital and Cyber Safety Session at Ramakrishna Mission Higher Secondary School

FLO Chennai Legal team addressed the students and staff at Ramakrishna Mission Higher Secondary School on the crucial topic of Online Digital and Cyber Safety. The session saw active participation from 400 students, ranging from Class VIII to Plus 2.

Ms. Subathra Mylsamy led the session, highlighting key insights and concerns related to screen time usage among children aged 15 to 24, as reported by UNICEF. She detailed the benefits and risks associated with digital engagement, emphasizing the sophisticated methods hackers use to exploit young minds. The discussion covered various cyber security threats, including cyber bullying, online harassment, privacy breaches, online scams, data misuse, and identity theft, supplemented with real-life examples to underscore the gravity of these issues.

Ms. Mylsamy also addressed the significant impact of online addiction on mental health and societal well-being. She provided practical safety measures to help students avoid falling into such traps and outlined the appropriate channels for lodging complaints.
