YFLO Hyderabad, under the leadership of Chairperson, Ridhi Jain, hosted “Nurturing Young Minds”. The event is a unique mental wellness initiative held at Oakridge International School.
The event was specifically designed for 6th-grade students and marked a significant step toward introducing young minds to mental wellness concepts in an engaging and supportive setting. With Ridhi Jain’s vision for empowering youth with essential life skills, YFLO Hyderabad aimed to instill self-awareness, stress management techniques, and confidence-building practices in these young participants.
The event featured psychologist Saloni Agarwal, who created an open environment for students to share their thoughts and perspectives. She emphasised that similar to physical health, mental wellness is a crucial part of daily life. This introduction set a foundation for students to view mental health as a normal and essential topic of discussion.
The workshop continued with an exploration of emotions, where students learned to identify and accept various feelings, recognising every emotion is natural and valid. A hands-on activity encouraged them to draw or write about their current emotions, fostering reflection and emotional intelligence. To equip students with coping skills, Saloni introduced techniques such as deep breathing, taking breaks, and talking with trusted individuals. She demonstrated a simple “4-7-8” breathing exercise to help them get calm when stressed.
Ridhi Jain’s vision for the event was to foster resilience and self-care awareness among students, ensuring they have practical tools to navigate emotional challenges.
This successful event concluded with an open Q&A, where students posed questions about managing stress and emotions, connecting with the session’s themes. Ridhi Jain’s dedication to mental health awareness and youth empowerment was evident in every aspect of the event, inspiring students to embrace both mental and physical wellness as they grow.
