FLO Kolkata, under its Fashion Initiative, has implemented the Sunehri Naari program, aimed at empowering young women with technical and economic independence through skill development in tailoring and stitching. 10 young women trained under the program.
The event aimed to provide professional training in tailoring and stitching skills, enhance employability and entrepreneurship opportunities for women, economically empower participants, enable them to achieve financial independence, and promote sustainable fashion practices through skill-based education. Training modules were developed by industry experts, covering both theoretical and practical aspects of tailoring and stitching. Mentorship and guidance were provided by experienced professionals to enhance skill development. Additionally, necessary materials and tools were supplied to facilitate hands-on training. To support future employment, trained participants were connected with job opportunities and self-employment avenues.
The chapter plans to collaborate with fashion houses, designers, and retail brands to create employment opportunities. Furthermore, advanced courses in fashion design and entrepreneurship will be introduced to support participants in scaling their skills and businesses.
