FLO organized a very interesting interactive session on Myths & Reality on Healthy Lifestyle for Women on August 12, 2013 at FICCI.
The speakers were – Dr. Ashok Seth, Chairman, Fortis Heart Institute, Dr. Gurinder Bedi, Director- Orthopedics, Fortis Hospital, Dr. Tripat Chaudhary- Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Fortis La Femme Hospital and Mrs. Daljit Kaur- Dietician, Fortis Escorts Heart Institute.
It was a very enriching interactive session, wherein the speakers highlighted on recognizing potential causes, preventive care and myths related to heart diseases, gynaecological and orthopedic issues.
In her welcome address, Ms Malvika Rai President FLO ,highlighted that the interactive session was organized with the aim to reinforce the awareness about living a healthy lifestyle and the essential changes and choices in our daily lives which can be critical in determining our health and lifespan. She added that various myths related to health & lifestyle would also be simplified during the session.
Dr. Ashok Seth, who has contributed extensively to the growth, development and scientific progress of Cardiology especially Interventional Cardiology in India and across the world, kept the members engrossed with his observations on the importance of a healthy heart for a healthy life. His tips for preventing heart ailments were immensely appreciated by the members.
Dr. Tripat Chaudhury talked about various issues related to gynaecology and obstetrics, which are of prime concern for women of all ages. The bottom-line of her presentation was “Protect the daughter, screen the mother”.
Dr. Gurinder Bedi focused on the bone health of women. He said that women are the stronger sex. However, it is important to take proper care of the skeletal health so that their strength remains unharmed. He also talked about the importance of Vitamin D for retaining healthy bones.
Mrs. Daljit Kaur answered the queries relation to diet & nutrition.
Ms Jayanti Dalmia, Governing Body Member was the Day Chair for the programme, who also graciously hosted the lunch. In her Vote of Thanks, Ms Dalmia expressed her gratitude to the panelists for giving an opportunity to introspect on our lives and lifestyle, which has become a vortex of hectic routines, sedentary ways, high level of stress besides other environmental factors.
