FICCI FLO Handloom & Textile Initiative: MIRAAS – The Festive Catalogue Launch

On October 5, 2024, the virtual launch of MIRAAS – The Festive Edit Catalogue took place via Zoom, serving as a vibrant celebration of India’s rich handloom and handicraft heritage.

Organized by FICCI FLO in collaboration with DC Handlooms, the event showcased FLO’s dedication to empowering grassroots artisans by encouraging conscious, artisanal gifting for festive and corporate occasions.

National President Joyshree Das Verma opened the session, emphasizing that MIRAAS is more than just a catalog—it represents a movement to uplift artisans and preserve India’s cultural legacy. She highlighted the significant economic role of the handicraft sector, which employs over 68.86 lakh artisans, 70% of whom are women, and called upon attendees to support this sector by choosing unique, handmade gifts from MIRAAS for Diwali, weddings, and corporate events.

Ms. Verma commended the FLO Handloom & Textile Initiative, led by Governing Body Members Roopa Patel and Swati Verma, along with Revathi Raju, Anannya Sharma, and Shilpa Patel, for their dedication to this cause.

In a time dominated by fast fashion, she underscored the importance of supporting artisans and noted that each purchase from MIRAAS directly contributes to the livelihood of these craftsmen. The Zoom session allowed participants to experience the artisans’ offerings virtually, and Ms. Verma shared how MIRAAS embodies the spirit of India’s cultural richness and the global appeal of traditional crafts, with handicraft exports reaching $1802.36 million in FY2024.

A heartfelt appeal was made for FLO members to make thoughtful, sustainable choices by supporting MIRAAS, ensuring a brighter, more prosperous Diwali for India’s artisans. FLO looks forward to expanding MIRAAS through digital promotions and collaborations, furthering its mission of sustainable and impactful gifting.
