Micro Entrepreneur Programs in Circular Economy Initiative

FLO Chennai conducted a successful event in Perumbakkam as part of the Rural Livelihood Initiative on October 9th, 2024. The event aimed at supporting less privileged communities. This initiative focused on micro-entrepreneur programs within the framework of a Circular Economy, specifically designed for urban poor women. The event took place at the Housing Board, where 90 beneficiaries actively participated in the program.

Under the guidance of Chairperson Ms. Divya Abhishek and the Vertical Head of Rural Entrepreneurship and Development, Ms. Jyothi Thomas, the initiative successfully highlighted the importance of sustainable practices. A key feature of the event was the Jumble Sale, which involved reselling high-quality preloved clothes through a commission model. This innovative approach allowed marginalised communities to access affordable clothing while empowering women to engage in entrepreneurial activities.

The initiative was ideated and implemented in collaboration with Wasted 360 Solutions Trust, serving as the ground partner for this program. Their expertise and commitment played a crucial role in ensuring the success of the event and providing valuable support and resources to the beneficiaries.

Overall, the Circular Economy initiative demonstrated the potential for positive social impact by equipping women with the skills and opportunities needed to thrive in their communities.

Impacted: 90 beneficiaries
