Meeting with Hon’ble Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Smt. Meira Kumar & Visit to Parliament New Delhi:

President Malvika Rai led a women business delegation from FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) to the Parliament, while the current Budget session is on to have firsthand information and also witness the crucial debates of national importance.

With the shifting role of a woman in the society and economy around the globe – the visit to the Parliament gave a ringside view of the national leaders, and the legislative process in action. During the visit to the Parliament the delegation also had a meeting with the first women Lok Sabha Speaker, Smt. Meira Kumar, a versatile women with various facets. The discussion focused on various issues on empowering and security of women to the issues of National concern and Economy.

Malvika Rai updated the Honb’le Lok Sabha Speaker on the working paper being prepared by FLO on ‘Creating a Climate of Respect: Keeping Women Safe ‘. She sought the support of the speaker in taking the same forward with the Parliamentary Committee of Empowerment of Women, once the paper is ready. This was appreciated by the Speaker.

The FLO Delegation also had meetings and interactions with Smt. Ratna Singh, Member of Parliament and Chairperson, Committee of Empowerment of Women and discussed the way forward.
