Ms. Mona Parekh from FLO Chennai attended a meeting focused on addressing key challenges faced by travel companies. The discussion highlighted the promotion of southern states as prime destinations for tourism, with an emphasis on heritage sites and UNESCO-listed locations. Concerns about the lack of proper sanitation facilities, particularly clean restrooms at tourism sites, were raised.
The meeting also touched upon the growing potential of medical tourism, noting that Chennai and Coimbatore are becoming hubs for this industry. Visa issues faced by foreign nationals attending conferences in India were discussed, and it was mentioned that efforts would be made to seek government support on this front.
Additionally, the importance of promoting cultural and ecotourism was stressed. Hotels were encouraged to provide updated brochures with sightseeing information and to offer better support for vehicles and guides to enhance the visitor experience.
