FICCI was the national industry partner to the Government of Odisha for Make-in-Odisha Conclave 2022, the third edition of the flagship industrial summit.
The Make in Odisha Conclave’22 is the flagship investor summit of the Government of Odisha. After the resounding success of the event in 2016 and 2018, the state has decided to organize the third edition of the marquee event at Bhubaneswar from November 30 to December 04, 2022.
During the three-day Make in Odisha, the state received an overall investment proposal worth ₹10.5 lakh crore, and this investment would generate 10,37,701 employment potential across sectors from 741 companies, according to the Odisha Government.
FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) was the official event partner of Mission Shakti for all pre and main events on Women Entrepreneurship of Make in Odisha on December 3, 2022.
Jayanti Dalmia, President FLO shared the dais with the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Naveen Patnaik and esteemed panel members and addressed the audience on’ Building Economic Independence for Women Empowerment. K. Veena, Founder Naturals, Pravin Raghavendra, Deputy MD, SBI, Sourav Roy, CEO Tata Steel Foundation, Rama Devi K, Founder ALEAP and Miral Chatterjee, SEWA also spoke on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering Jayanti Dalmia congratulated Mission Shakti for making a difference to 70 lakh women at the grassroots which is truly remarkable. She also thanked the Odisha Government for the support extended to FLO Bhubaneswar. Mrs Dalmia shared the work of the FLO Bhubaneswar chapter of working with entrepreneurs and skilling adolescent girls and women.
FLO Bhubaneshwar, led by Dharitri Patnaik Founder Chair of the Chapter coordinated the events.
The plenary sessions, which encapsulated future strategies of Department of Mission Shakti in providing platforms to entrepreneurial skills of Odisha women to take wings, was inaugurated by the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The plenary Session on ‘Building Economic Independence for Women Empowerment’ was followed by two sectoral sessions titled ‘Realising Women SHGs as an Enterprise Model’ and ‘Unlocking Investments for Business of SHGs’.
Department of Mission Shakti has signed five Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with leading corporate houses and institutions like Directorate of Horticulture, Indian School of Business (ISB), Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council (B&WSSC), Rubber, Chemical and Petrochemical Skill Development Council (RCPSDC) and Flipkart.
The department will be having forthcoming partnership with World Fish on dry fish management, IRRI on rice-based value added products and ICRISAT for value addition to ground nuts.
A video on Mission Shakti, the Coffee Table Book profiling Odisha’s SHG movement titled ‘Mission Shakti – Scaling Up’ and Mission Shakti Annual Activity Report 2021-22, were released.
The CM guided the SHGs, investors and officials for transformation of Mission Shakti SHGs to SMEs (Small & Micro Enterprises).
The CM also felicitated 3 best SHG entrepreneurs and 3 best bankers for credit linkage support to the SHGs.
Basanti Hembram, Minister of Women & Child Development and Mission Shakti, deliberated on ‘The Odisha Initiative’ and bank linkage upto 5 lakhs at 0% interest.
In her welcome address, Sujata R. Karthikeyan, Commissioner-Cum-Secretary, Department of Mission Shakti, shared the CM’s vision to convert every SHG into an SME to encourage female enterprise in India. To support financing for women entrepreneurs, 500Cr of goods will now be procured only through SHGs.
Thousands of SHG entrepreneurs across the state were present during this program.
Hon’ble Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik exhorted FLO to work closely with the Mission Shakti Department to develop strategies for further strengthening the entrepreneurship ecosystem at the grassroots.
“At the same time create opportunities for local women entrepreneurs to reach out to the global markets,” the CM said while addressing the FICCI National Executive Council Meeting at the third edition of Make In Odisha Conclave
“It’s heartening to see a vibrant women entrepreneurship initiative in FICCI FLO, especially the engagement with Mission Shakti. Through Mission Shakti, our goal is to empower the women of our state to be model entrepreneurs and leaders,” the CM added.
On December 4, 2022, FLO Bhubaneswar Chapter organised a breakfast meeting in honour of the National President, Jayanti Dalmia. She interacted with the members of the Chapter and applauded the Chapter for their work and discussed way forward.
