FLO Hyderabad’s skill training program in Embroidery and Maggam work for 40 urban marginalized women came to a conclusion on January 8, 2025. This program spread over 30 working days, imparted basic embroidery and Maggam work techniques to enable the trainees to take on orders or work with boutiques/designers after graduating. 40 urban poor women benefited through this initiative.
The trainees underwent a theory-cum-practical test on completion of the course. 25 of them were picked to graduate to the next level – Advanced Training in Maggam and Zardozi Work.
Led by Ms. Haritha Kanduri, an experienced trainer, the program has succeeded in putting the power of livelihood generation in the hands of the trainees. FLO Hyderabad is working on a catalog of all the trainees to be circulated to designers and boutiques in Hyderabad city in order to create a connection for them with potential employers. The creations made by graduates of these programs will be showcased at the Initiatives Showcase in February.
The chapter appreciates the Reana Social Initiatives Foundation for venue and facilitation.
