Maggam Work Training

FLO Hyderabad’s SaKala team, as part of the Handlooms and Textiles Initiatives, has launched a skill training program in embroidery and Maggam works for 40 urban marginalized women.

The program spread over 30 working days, imparted basic embroidery and Maggam work techniques to 40 urban poor women trainees who worked to take on orders and/or work with boutiques or designers after graduating.

Special thanks to Richmonds High School, Krishna Nagar, for providing the space and monitoring the program. Chairperson Priya Gazdar inaugurated the initiative, Hon. Secretary Sujitha Reddy, SaKala Initiative Head Mrinalini Shastry, EduSkill Initiative Head Ms. Saritha Rao, and SaKala Initiative team member Ms. Sheetal Tibrewala, Ms. Sangeetha Varma, FLO Member, and EduSkill team member. Ms. Haritha, the trainer, also joined the program.

Training women in maggam work making them job-ready and building their technical skills such as digital and financial literacy, banking, and savings were the key highlights of the initiative.
