Legal Sensitisation and Awareness Session

FICCI FLO NORTH-EAST organised a Legal Sensitisation and Awareness Session at PCPS Girls Polytechnic College, Bamunimaidan, Guwahati, on February 26, 2019. Over 400 Students of the College, with their Principal, Dr. Madhumita Das, Head of Department of Architecture, Paromita Kakoty, and other faculty and staff members, attended the talk. Sarita Sikaria, Chairperson.

FICCI FLO NE, opened the session after which Smritishree Chakravorty, practising advocate and member FICCI FLO NE, spoke on generic laws affecting women, Mitali Duwarah, practising advocate, delivered a talk on Laws to protect against domestic violence, and Vasavi Acharya, LLB and member of the Executive Committee of FICCI FLO NE, gave knowledge on property laws pertaining to women.

The talk was aimed to armour the girl-students with the knowledge that the law is there for them at every turn. All listened with rapt attention. The very enlightening session was followed by a question and answer round. Finally, Jahnabi Phukan, Vice President, FLO, guided the students to take advantage of the session and assured them that FICCI FLO was with them at every step, and the students could approach our Legal Cell for advice and assistance.
