LeadHer: Connect – Collaborate – Create

FICCI FLO Mumbai Chapter organised its Launch event LeadHer : Connect – Collaborate – Create.

The EC members spoke on the focus areas of work for 2024-25 in their presentations, highlights were on the social causes and initiatives in skilling that the Chapter would undertake this year.

The panel discussion focused on Sustainable Fashion and ways to reviving the Indian heritage of the embroidery weaves.

Ms. Roop Rashi , Textile Commission, Ministry of Textiles , Government of India was the Chief Guest alongwith eminent industry fashion icons- Neeta Lulla, Nikkhil Thammpi, Sangita Devi Kathiwada and Rasika Wakalkar .

Focus areas of discussion were on skilling women and the many initiatives taken by Neeta Lulla, Rudraksh and Melange in providing employment to women in the rural areas by teaching them the art of handloom weaving of traditional patterns which depict Indias rich art and heritage.

Government both at the centre and state level have set up skilling centers so as to not.only provide employment but also revive handloom products . Research studies have shown that today many more women are employed who have learnt the handloom weaving art and are financially self sufficient.

Melange and Rudraksh spoke on how they have set up foundations and are doing extensive research on traditional weaves so as to revive Indias rich heritage.

Neeta Lulla elaborated how she has reintroduced the Paithani into Indian films by designing costumes using traditional fabrics and weaves .

The main emphasis was on showcasing and advertising through various mediums about Indias long history of handloom and the rich weaves which need to be made fashionable for the newer generations .

There was also a fireside chat with Mr. Ashwin Sanghi and Mr.Vijay Vikram Singh on women Shakti in the mythological era. He also spoke on his Entrepreneurship career and his passion for writing for which he is well recognised today.

Actor , Esha Deol spoke on women empowerment and how today there is a platform for every women to come forward and excel in her skills. There are endless boundaries where women can spread there wings and compete equally.
