Launch of WeFLO: The First All-Women Job Portal for Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, Powered by MIET

FLO Jammu Kashmir & Ladakh launched WeFLO.in, the region’s first all-women job portal, on December 23, 2024. Powered by the Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), the platform connects women with inclusive employers, empowering over 8,000 beneficiaries.

Hon’ble Minister of Health & Medical Education & Social Welfare, Jammu & Kashmir Ms. Sakina Itoo inaugurated the portal as Chief Guest, joined by Mrs. Joyshree Das Verma, FICCI FLO National President joined as Guest of Honor, Ms. Reshma Patel, National Head of Digital Literacy Initiative, FICCI FLO, and Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director of MIET attended as a distinguished guest. Mrs. Ruchika Gupta, Chapter Chairperson, emphasized the portal’s role in bridging the employment gap for women.

Senior government officials and dignitaries also extended their support to this initiative as Special Guests, including Mr. Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department, Mr. Khalid Jahangir, MD JKTPO, Mr. Arun K Manhas, Director, Industries & Commerce Jammu, Mr. Rajinder K Sharma, Director, JKEDI, Ms. Indu Chib, Chairman, J&K Service Selection Board, Ms. Shubhra Sharma, MD JKRLM, Mr. G Velladurai, Jt. Director, MSME J&K UT, Ladakh among others.

Ms. Itoo commended FLO and MIET for their pioneering initiative and expressed confidence in the region’s socio-economic growth. Mrs. Joyshree Das Verma lauded the chapter’s innovative efforts, envisioning a bright future for J&K. WeFLO.in, built with the technical expertise of MIET under the leadership of its Director, Prof. Ankur Gupta, aims to connect women job seekers with progressive employers committed to diversity and inclusivity. The launch also saw the felicitation of key contributors and collaborators who played a pivotal role in making this project a reality. Academic partners facilitated were Prof. SP Saraswat, Principal, GCW Gandhi Nagar, Prof. Ravinder Tickoo, Principal, GCW Parade, Prof. Pragya Khanna, Principal, GLDM GDC Hiranagar, Prof. Twinkle Suri, Principal, SPPND GDC Samba.
