Launch of a Vocational training Program for Rural women June 18th, 2011

FLO Bombay in association with Jankidevi Bajaj Gram Vikas Sanstha (JBGVS), the CSR initiative by Bajaj Auto launched its 1st Vocational training programme for rural women on Saturday, 18th June, 2011 in the beautiful premises of Sai Baba Seva Dham situated at small village Kanhe near Lonavala. The event was inaugurated by FLO Bombay Chairperson Sucheta Shah, Colonel Deshmukh – Director JBGVS and Ms Jyotsna Mody of SBSD.

The aim of the project is to make the rural women self sufficient by training them in various vocational skills thereby enabling them to live with self respect in their own villages. We were really happy to see the crowd of over 100 women who came from nearby villages to attend the workshop.

Janaki Devi Bajaj Gram Vikas Sanstha has also partnered FLO in its endeavour to educate the girl child by constructing Sanitary Complexes in schools in rural areas. The school we are talking here about is: Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Vidyalay, At Shivali –Bhadavali The school is located in a beautiful hilly area of Pavana dam. It has 374 student and six classes. The toilet was inaugurated Mrs. Vinita Bimbhet – Director Grameen Initiative for Women (GIW), in association with FLO – Bombay Chapter.
We hope that with these small initiatives we can make some difference to the lives of the women and students.
