Under the inspiring leadership of Joyshree Das Verma, the 41st National President of FICCI FLO, a remarkable event was hosted on the occasion of World Saree Day. The event marked the official launch of FLO S.H.I.N.E. Sustainable Habits Initiating a New Era) and was held at the historic Travancore Palace, New Delhi. With over 120 participants, the day was acelebration of India’s rich sartorial heritage, sustainability, and women’s empowerment.
FLO S.H.I.N.E Launch:
FLO S.H.I.N.E, spearheaded by Initiative Lead Poonam Mahajan, under the
Policy and Advocacy Initiative, focuses on promoting sustainable living
practices inspired by India’s cultural ethos. The initiative underscores the
importance of sustainability, which is inherently tied to India’s handloom and
handcrafted traditions.
Curated World Saree Day Event:
The event was meticulously curated by Anjali Aggarwal, Day Chair and lead of FLO’s Fashion & Jewellery Initiative, along with her dedicated team including Nidhi Goel, Ritika Sarna, Sahai Ambar Pariddi, and Poonam Mahajan. The focus was on showcasing handcrafted sarees from various regions of India, celebrating the artistry of Indian weavers and craftsmen.
The event was graced by eminent personalities, including- Padmashri Laila Tyabji, craft activist and founder of Dastkar; Shalini Passi, art patron, collector, and style icon; Malika Pandey, Assistant Private Secretary to the Union Cabinet Minister at the Ministry of Women & Child Development; Dr. Tanu Jain, IAS Officer and a role model of excellence; Renu Hussain, poetess known for her evocative words; Komal Mathur, master of Sufi Sacred Movements; and Jyotsana Gupta, a trailblazer in women’s empowerment.
Saree Walkathon: A vibrant and colorful saree walkathon was organised celebrating the unity and diversity of Indian traditional textiles.
Donate a Saree, Share a Smile Drive: Members generously contributed sarees for underprivileged women and toys for children in Anganwadis. This initiative aimed at spreading joy and empowering women through small but impactful gestures.
