Joy of Giving Week, December 6 -10, 2017

FLO Ludhiana started with “Joy of giving week” with EK Noor- Neki ki Dukaan. This is a novel concept of give, take and share with dignity, where donations of all kinds from clothes, books, toys and even furniture is taken and then refurbished to sell it for a price of one to ten rupees, providing the end users a sense of dignity not a sense of living off alms.

This drive was spearheaded by Renu Garg, Mannat Kothari, Smriti Thapar, Sanam Mehra. The concept runs like a goodwill shop in the UK and US.

The Chapter also collaborated with the Paediatric, Oncology and Ophthalmology departments of DMC hospital in the afternoon for highly subsidised medical treatment. A voluntary contribution was collected by our members and donated to the Hospital to be used for any patient who finds herself or her family in dire needs of funds.

The head of Trustee, Mr. Prem Gupta signed a letter of subsidy and assurance to help the needy patients referred to by
‘FLO LDH MEDICAL CELL’. This Cell is headed by Mrs Monika Choudhary and Sunilla Gupta in conjunction with Ankita Gupta, Radhika Gupta, Rajni Sethi and Rosie Chawla and is a permanent body of FICCI FLO Ludhiana.

Voluntary help of members is open on this platform. A separate group has been formed to oversee the working of this cell and also to keep the working body of the FLO MEDICAL CELL abreast on all information pertaining to National FLO health initiatives.

7 th Dec: The charity drive spreads to Amritsar, spearheaded by Gowri Bansal, powered by Manjot Dhillon, with 30 underprivileged children given a day of regular school complete with bag, books Tiffin and all school activities.

8th Dec: Spearheaded by Reena Aggarwal and Nandita Bhaskar, sharing time and resources with Ek jot, an NGO for underprivileged kids.

9th Dec: Spearheaded by Anamika Ghai and Radhika Gupta. Ek chai ka pyala- walking the railways station with hot tea and snacks for the overnight passengers who are forced to stay at the platforms between their journey due to paucity of funds.

10 th Dec in Chandigarh: Spearheaded by Anupam jain. FLO Ludhiana goes to Snehanchal – NGO for rural women, where we donate yards of clothes, laces, borders, Emb material, facilitate a sewing master to upgrade and teach the girls sewing, we also work hands on with them and give them colour and design inputs..
