On 11th July, in the presence of Jail authorities, NABARD officials, FLO Members and Mr. Lawrence Rao of Spoorthi-Hyderabad FLO chairperson Ms. Pooja Agarwal has launched Italian Lace Making Project at Baroda Central Jail.
After the persistent and continuous effort of the former FLO chairperson Mrs. Sonal Ambani and the FLO committee FLO Ahmedabad is happy to announce the inauguration of the Italian Lace Making Project for the women in Baroda Central jail.
The core objective of the present project is to empower the poor women both socially and economically through provision of access to sustainable income generating options in respect of Italian Lace Products, which are highly specialized, intricate and artistic in nature, and enjoying assured and highly remunerative international markets. The project envisages providing relevant skills in Italian Lace Products to 50 Women prisoners over a period of 3 months under most congenial, encouraging and inspiring atmosphere with expert guidance of from two trainers from M/s Spoorthi, Warangal. The most significant component of this project is the in-built marketing support and buy-back arrangements to the produce made by these women, thus ensuring assured earnings to these trained women. NABARD provided fund for the project.
