Interstate Meet at Assam & Meghalaya: A Journey of Discovery and Empowerment

YFLO members visited the 3rd Governing Body Meet held in Assam and Meghalaya from December 12 – 16, 2024. Members had the opportunity to observe the landscapes, culture, and unique traditions of Assam and Meghalaya.

The journey began with a welcome in Guwahati, followed by a visit to the Kamakhya Temple and a cruise along the Brahmaputra River. The members experienced Assam’s sprawling tea gardens and had a close encounter with the endangered one-horned rhinoceros, two of the region’s most cherished natural treasures.

The journey also took the members to Majuli, the world’s largest river island, and Umananda, the smallest inhabited riverine island. Their stops included the Living Root Bridges, Nohkalikai Falls, Seven Sisters Falls, and the Arwah limestone caves. The group also explored Shillong and had the opportunity to engage with local dignitaries, gaining a deeper understanding of the region’s history and culture.

The event was attended by YFLO Hyderabad Chairperson Ms. Ridhi Jain, and YFLO Hyderabad Vice-Chairperson Ms. Pallavi Jain, who contributed to making this interstate meet even more impactful and memorable, along with other members.

The members witnessed local entrepreneurs at FLO Bazaar, who showcased handloom textiles and bamboo crafts. The hospitality of the Bodos, Khasis, and Garos painted a vivid picture of a society deeply rooted in tradition yet embracing progress.
