International Linkage: Signing of MOU with Afghan Women Business Federation ( AWBF)

India has been constantly endeavouring to increase its foot prints in the global arena and Afghanistan is one of its key partners not only in the field of trade and investments but also in the field of Science & technology, defence, art literature and sports amongst others.

Women empowerment is one issue which is another common thread that connects both the countries. Both India & Afghanistan have worked towards accelerating women participation in the process of economic development by promoting entrepreneurship & professional excellence.

FLO over the last 33 years has worked towards promoting entrepreneurship and professional excellence in women in all sectors and across all levels of society. It firmly believes that education, information and equal rights and opportunities for women is what shall truly empower them.

FLO signed an MOU with Afghan Women’s Business Federation with the objective of taking concrete steps to foster friendship and understanding between the business women of the two countries.

The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the “Made in Afghanistan” conference, held in New Delhi to promote Afghan products and boost trade relations between the two countries.

With this MOU it also hopes to promote cooperation in trade, investment, services and women economic empowerment between India and Afghanistan. It also aims at creating a roadmap for development which will not only speed up economic growth, and provide employment opportunities for women but will create a cadre of women leaders in both the countries.
