Interactive Session with Chanda Kochhar, The Woman on Top, August 7th, 2014

“Merit is the underlying factor, and that is the thing that should let women grow,” said Chanda Kochhar on women in the work force.

At YFLO’s event, “The Woman on Top” MD and CEO, ICICI Bank Chanda Kochhar spoke on being a woman and her journey to the top. She focused on the importance of a gender neutral work place. Mrs Kochhar believes that women have all the capabilities to make it to the top “Women are by nature much more flexible and adaptable and have the ability to multi-tasking. All that we need to do is to keep prioritising things, minute by minute”. She clarified that prioritizing did not mean she was sacrificing anything; they key is do what is of utmost priority at that point in time, whether it was attending to a work call or foregoing your afternoon nap to be with your children.

Mrs Kochhar spoke candidly about the support she received from her husband. She underlined the importance of a partner who not only encourages you but is genuinely happy for your achievements. Chanda Kochhar is indeed an inspiration and addressed many of the work-life balance issues faced by most women. It was an exciting morning and all the women present, left rejuvenated and motivated.
