Interactive session FACE to FACE with Jaipur Police

FICCI Ladies Organization (FLO), Jaipur Chapter organized an interactive session ‘Face to Face’ with the Jaipur Police on problems of women security, law and order and traffic. Senior police officers : Additional Director General of Police, Mr. Navdeep Singh; Commissioner of Police, Mr. Janga Srinivasa Rao; Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mr. Anand Vardhan Shukla and Deputy Commissioner of Police Traffic, Ms. Lovely Katiyar interacted with the FLO members as well as media.

Additional Director General of Police Mr. Navdeep Singh informed that the police force were been taught behavioural skills, soft skills and was opening up to the public. Nevertheless, it was important to point out that bad behaviour, corruption within the force has resulted in the highest number of dismissals, charge sheets and disciplinary actions to improve the police personnel. He further said that it should never be forgotten that the on the occasion of different festivals like Diwali, Holi, Id, etc. while the public celebrates the police personnel are always on duty.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Janga Srinivasa Rao said that it was very important to create awareness among the general public about the police. He informed that as far as women security was concerned – a security audit has been done in the city to find out the routes taken by girls and working women so that adequate security arrangements can be made for them. There is also a ‘SOS’ app which can be used in cases of emergency, he said.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mr. Anand Vardhan Shukla said that counselling of the husband and wife was an essential part of system when reports are received relating to domestic violence. Commenting on corruption he said that the public at large was also responsible for giving ‘convenience money’ to get their work easily done. The community, of which the police was also a part, must desist from paying bribes.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police Traffic, Ms. Lovely Katiyar made an earnest appeal for voluntary traffic wardens. She said that there was poor participation among the women to enroll as traffic warden and sought the assistance of FLO for enrolling such wardens. She outlined the initiatives taken in improving the traffic in the Jaipur city by way of one-ways, strict action against drunken driving, ‘Priyadarshani Vahan’ for creating traffic awareness among others.

Earlier, the Chairperson of FLO, Jaipur Chapter, Ms. Apra Kuchhal shared that the ‘Face to Face’ interaction would eliminate a lot of wrong perceptions people have about the police force in issues relating to law and order, corruption and women security. She also moderated the session in which a large number of questions were answered by the police officers with patience.
