Interaction with Ms. Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Managing Director and Chief Operating Office, World Bank Mumbai

Ms. Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Managing Director and Chief Operating Office, World Bank along with Ms. Annette Dixon, Regional Vice President, South Asia and Mr Onno Ruhl, India Country Director met with FLO, FICCI Ladies Organisation on the 22nd of September as part of her visit to India.

A twelve member FLO representation led by FLO President Archana Garodia Gupta & Senior Vice President Vinita Bimbhet and senior members from all parts of the country spoke about personal experiences and challenges faced by women in business.

FLO has been working towards economically empowering women, particularly women entrepreneurs for the last thirty years and the World Bank sees growth in women empowerment as an impetus towards the economic growth of a nation.

Recommendations were discussed for creating an enabling environment for women to set up businesses and FLO going forward looks towards a collaborative effort with the World Bank in identifying gender components in loans for economic development and in identifying gender issues in the service and infrastructure sectors.
