Ashdin Doctor-founder of Awesome 180, which is a habit podcast, a YouTube channel and also a habit coaching program has been revolutionary for many who have adopted his philosophies. This brilliant concept came about 5 years ago when he suffered from many health issues and decided to transform his life by changing his lifestyle. To do so he needed to change his habits and dug deeper into the secrets of habit-forming. He shared some of the key principles in habit formation.
Habits should always be fuelled by intention so one must ask themselves ‘why’ they want to instill or change a habit and get to the core of their intentions and once it’s identified it makes it easier to adapt.
Some of the other ways are to make the habit goals extremely small so it takes little effort to accomplish. For example, if one wants to work out every day, they have to develop the habit of laying out the mat every day. This small habit might encourage to actually work out since the mat is already laid out.
Making it very easy was something that sounds easy but difficult to do. But every habit should be easy and accessible so it’s not complicated to imbibe in daily life. E.g. keeping running shoes by the door so it’s not an effort to get them and slip them on to go for a run.
The last tip that was very useful – never miss 2 days in a row. Because then missing becomes a habit.
It left members motivated and charged to change habits and create good ones and also sign up for a ‘no sugar challenge’ for 10 days which will help break the habit of having sugar. Lastly, he left with a note of gratitude as said that gratitude and fear can never coexist and practicing gratitude will help one stay positive and happy.
