Garima 3.0: Menstrual Hygiene Awareness and Skill Development

A transformative event, “Garima 3.0,” was held at a rural school near Vadodara city, reaching 140 young rural girls. The program focused on two critical areas: menstrual hygiene awareness and skill development in Warli Art. The event commenced with a detailed and informative session on menstrual hygiene, which was both engaging and educational. The session covered various important topics, including information on menstrual hygiene, the proper usage and disposal of sanitary napkins, and the biodegradability of these products. The knowledge shared by Dr. Pashmin Singh, Ms. Kavisha Gandhi, Dr. Anitha Iyer, Ms. Shubhra Ruparel, and Ms. Nidhi Surve Shah was invaluable in empowering these young girls with essential health information.

In addition to the hygiene session, the girls were introduced to the traditional art of Warli, specifically applying this skill to envelope design. This craft activity was led by Ms. Niyati Shah and supported by Ms. Taruna Suryavanshi, Ms. Parul Gupta, and other dedicated volunteers. Their efforts ensured that the girls not only learned a new skill but also enjoyed a creative and enriching experience.

At the end of the session, each girl was provided with a sanitary napkin hamper, sufficient for one year, and a craft hamper to continue practicing their new skills. The event was made possible through the generous CSR funding of INR 140,000 by Jan Priya Trust. The involvement of 12 FLO Members as volunteers was crucial to the success of the event, as they shared their knowledge and skills, making a lasting impact on the lives of the participants.
