FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) organised a Workshop on ‘Empowering Women Through E-Commerce’ on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 10:30 am at FICCI. The workshop was facilitated by speakers from Shopclues.com.
It was organised under the aegis of FLO WE in Ecommerce Initiative, which is a part of the WE Initiative – Women’s Employment, Empowerment and Entrepreneurship, encompassing various sectors.
There is an enormous opportunity to market products made by women – at small or medium scale, to be sold in wider markets through the E Commerce. The objective of the workshop was to facilitate the process of women empowerment by providing them a digital platform to promote their businesses.
FLO President, Vinita Bimbhet in her welcome remarks said, “India is the emerging eCommerce market and Indian women and specially crafts women need to be encouraged and trained to create their e catalogues and use the Internet & e commerce platforms for better market linkages. FLO ‘s objective is to economically empower women and this can directly connect women to the markets without having to leavetheir homes. If this can be particularly extended to women in non urban areas it will make a significant difference.”
She added, “FLO has committed to provide a platform of mentorship, training and hand holding in partnership with existing e Commerce companies, and hope to guide crafts women and women entrepreneurs , impart skills and training thereby encouraging women to join the workforce.
An MOU was signed between FLO and Clues Network Pvt. Ltd, Gurgaon (www.shopclues.com) on July1 3, 2016 for e-marketing of products of the beneficiaries of FLO. The objective is to educate, enable and empower these entrepreneurs / members to use the online platform for exploring avenues to increase their business and enhanced market access.
Vinita Bimbhet said, “We endeavour create an exclusive FICCI FLO Store titled “FLO Women of India” to represent the Women Empowerment in E-commerce for its members and artisans. It will augment the process of providing beneficiaries of FLO an online marketing platform, training, infrastructural support in data analytics and customer acquisition to help them get remunerative prices for their products and scale up their business.”
