FICCI Ladies Organisation, with Vital Voices organised a global initiative, the Global Mentoring Walk in New Delhi, India on March 11, 2017 at Lodhi Garden, New Delhi.
The FLO Vital Voices’ Global Mentoring Walk is an opportunity to highlight the importance of women’s leadership, and to accelerate the impact of women leaders through mentoring. Commemorating the occasion of International Women’s Day, global women leaders from Vital Voices’ Global Leadership Network are walking in more than 60 countries & 134 walks across the Globe, on this day.
FLO, the oldest and largest Women Chamber of Commerce in South East Asia, has been working towards equality and empowerment of women for 34 years. For The Global Mentoring Walk in New Delhi, FLO joined hands with Vital Voices Global Leadership Network, which is the leading non-governmental organization (NGO) that identifies, trains and empowers emerging women leaders and social entrepreneurs around the globe, enabling them to create a better world. ARCH Academy of Design was a partner in this initiative.
During the Walk, the mentors shared their achievements, challenges and strategies in their journey and guided the aspiring ones, motivating them to grow in their respective areas. They also highlighted on the importance of building strong mentoring partnerships with young mentees, resulting in enhanced personal, professional and business development, thereby creating a pool of future women leaders, nurtured by existing ones. “Paying it forward” was the concept, on which this mentor-mentee network is based.
To name a few, eminent businesswomen, professionals, politicians, activists, artists, journalists etc.- such as Rashmi Tiwari, Aahan Foundation; Usha Punia, Former Tourism Minister of Rajasthan State ; Prabha Karhana, H.R Partner,Harley Davidson; Arati Mukerji, Director Communication & Brand Image, Michelin India; Mandeep Kaur ,Public, Affairs US Embassy; Shilpa Ajwani, MD of Tupperware; Neha Kirpal, Founding Director of Indian Art Fair ; Sreerupa Sil, Editor Business world; Padma Shri Meenakshi Gopinath, educationist; Deepika Chaudhary, Legal Head and on Board of Xerox; Anjali Singh, CEO Genpact; Preeti Sinha, Sr President Yes Bank, Global Convenor , were the mentors for the programme.
