FLO NE organised flood relief in three phases in the flood affected areas. Farmlands, schools, bridges and road links were severely impacted by the floods.
Floods are a recurring problem in Assam Nature unleashed its fury and took in the force of its swirling waters human lives, cattle, sturdy village embankments entire homes and their belongings. Water rose to above 10 feet submerging homes and endangering their livelihood.
As every year, FLO NE reached out to the flood victims. Each Member came forward with generous contributions. In the 1st phase, 150 Families in Nalbari District Beneficiaries of essential food items. The 2nd phase witnessed distribution of essential rations to 150 Families of Hatiana Village. In the 3rd phase, 350 Families in shelters on embankments were provided rations.
Each family received Bed sheets, pillow covers, chatais, mosquito nets, 9 pieces of utensils, bucket & mugs, bleaching powder packets, phenyl bottles and drinking water.
Three truckloads of materials were flagged off by Mrs. Queen Ojha, Member of Parliament and also a Past Chairperson of FLO NE.
Aid also came from FLO Members outside the State, whose generous acts made it possible to buy relief materials for 350 families.
The entire FLO NE Flood Operation, led by PCP Saroj Khemka (also a GB Member) and National Vice President and PCP Joyshree Das Verma along with guidance of Chairperson, Meghali Das, with their team of efficient and dedicated members worked in war footing and clockwork precision to provide succour at this time of distress.
