The hugely appreciated and succesful event was honoured by the presence of celebrity chef Sarah Todd of Masterchef Australia fame. Chairperson Shruti Mittal along with Sarah Todd, welcomed the packed audience and Sarah enthralled the audience with her anecdotes and took on audience questions with equal gusto.

The day comprised of several sub events apart from the main cooking competition which kept all the members well occupied through the entire event. The tea tasting workshop conducted by Tea Master Gaurav Saria & the food styling and photography workshop by Sharmi

Simultaneously 6 specially chosen teams were sweating away at their benches to walk away with the coveted prize of Masterchef 2019. The judges Chef Zafar from Leela and Sarah Todd had a tough time deciding the winning team whose challenge being the “Gujarati Bento Box”

The event also saw the launch of the much anticipated Flo Recipe Book, a beautiful handcrafted book of 82 recipes by our members. Chairperson Shruti Mittal along with Sarah Todd and Chef Zafar launched the book and all members were given free copies of the book to treasure. The top ten recipe winners chosen by Chef Zafar were awarded in separate categories.

The day was specially memorable since 21 ladies from the Initiatives program who were being trained by the Indian Institute of Hotel Management were felicitated as the graduating team. FLO Bangalore is especially proud of these ladies who passed their course in Indian cooking and baking and given a chance to break away from their economic shackles to financial independence. Each of the 6 teams which participated in the competition were assisted by a member from amongst these girls.

The FLO Masterchef event was a resounding success especially since almost everything right from the sponsors to gifts and workshops were all sourced from the member talent pool.

The event which took 4 months of hardwork to conceptualise was a resounding success and FLO Bangalore cannot wait for its next Masterchef event !
