FLO Kolkata Kitaab Initiative with Dr Shashi Tharoor

The City of Joy Kolkata reverberated with the majestic presence of author and parliamentarian Dr. Shashi Tharoor. His latest literary creation Ambedkar: A Life got launched by Prabha Khaitan Foundation in association with FICCI FLO Kolkata Chapter, under its prized initiative Kitaab.

The discussion of the book was equally majestic with two eminent personalities conversing on the life, ideologies, and political insights of a person who was the chief architect of the Indian Constitution. The rendezvous between Dr. Tharoor with notable Indian management consultant, author, columnist, and public speaker Suhel Seth kept the bibliophiles of Kolkata riveted to the solemn discussions on Ambedkar.

Prabha Khaitan Foundation in association with FICCI FLO Kolkata, ITC Sonar, and Ehsaas women of Kolkata curated the ‘Kitaab’ event on a wintry evening of December 26 2022 to celebrate Dr. Shashi Tharoor’s biography on Ambedkar. The author and the conversationalist were joined Shradha Saraf – Chairperson of FICCI FLO Kolkata, Nitin Bahl – Hotel Manager of ITC Sonar, Sangeeta Datta – Ehsaas woman of London, Madhuri Halwasiya – Ehsaas woman of Lucknow and a FLO member and Ehsaas women of Kolkata – Esha Dutta and Malika Varma.

Talking about a man who bequeathed to the country one of the most visionary Constitutions that the world has ever seen, Dr. Tharoor said that he is one of the greatest Indians of all times who looms large in our national consciousness. The author interpreted the legacy of Ambedkar and validated the reasons that make Ambedkar’s political and constitutional ideologies relevant even today.

The range of discussion was wide, embracing talks on the social stigmas faced by Babasaheb, political inclinations, and historical decisions that made an indelible mark on his life and also on the nation Madhuri Halwasiya, Ehsaas woman of Lucknow delivered the introductory note and moderated the whole session. The formal welcome speech was given by Shradha Saraf, Chairperson of FICCI FLO Kolkata. Esha Dutta, Ehsaas woman of Kolkata, felicitated the author and the conversationalist.
