FLO JKL and MIET Host Jammu Kashmir Startup Conclave 2024

FLO JKL and Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), successfully hosted the Jammu Kashmir Startup Conclave 2024 at the MIET campus. 300 people celebrated the entrepreneurship and innovation in J&K, and the conclave provided a platform for emerging entrepreneurs to present their ideas.

The event highlighted the achievements of 10 outstanding startups from J&K, which received the JK Startup Pride Award. Additionally, 6 early-stage startups and 3 teams in the elevator pitching competition won cash awards totaling over Rs. 2.5 lakhs. The elevator pitch competition drew over 500 entries from across the region, with top teams awarded cash prizes.

The event commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director MIET, who extended a warm welcome to the distinguished speakers, Mr. Bhuvan Gupta, Co-founder and CTO of OfBusiness and OxyZo (Both Unicorns), Dr. Aarti Gupta, National Head FICCI FLO Startup Cell & Chief Investment Officer at DBR Ventures, Mr. Mahavir Pratap Sharma, Chair of TiE India Angels & Rajasthan Angels and Dr. Deepak Motwani, Principal Investor Relations, Wadhwani Foundation. Mrs. Ruchika Gupta, Chairperson of FLO JKL, emphasized the role of FLO’s SheRises initiative in empowering women entrepreneurs.

Several senior government officials addressed the audience, reinforcing the government’s support for entrepreneurship and startups in Jammu & Kashmir. Dr. Arun Kumar Manhas (JKAS), Director of Industries and Commerce, delivered a keynote address emphasizing the role of industries in supporting startups. Mr. Rajinder Kumar Sharma (JKAS), Director of JKEDI, and Sh. G. Velladurai (IEDS), Joint Director of MSME, each spoke on the importance of government initiatives and policies that foster a supportive ecosystem for startups.
