FLO Kolkata Chapter organized an advanced training workshop on FLO Women Directors in continuation of its FLO-FWD Project of last year.
This year, the training was imparted by KPMG. KPMG is one of the Big Four Accounting Firms of the world and, their Center, to fulfil its aim of championing outstanding governance, conducts corporate board development programs.
It was a day long training in which experienced Partners of KPMG were the trainers. About 25 members attended the workshop.
The Training Module included:
I. Roles, Responsibilities and liabilities of Directors;
II. Introduction to Board Leadership Center and context setting;
III. Risk controls, Audit and Compliance – Responsibilities of Directors;
IV. Understanding Financial Statements;
V. Experience sharing by a woman director.
Sessions I to III were conducted by Mr Rajib Basu, Partner, Risk Consulting and Session IV was taken by Mr Sourabh Mukherjee, Technical Director, AAS – Delhi.
Each of the sessions were extremely informative and also interactive.
The participants got fundamental insight of the laws, procedures and practices of how a Board functions and the roles, responsibilities and liabilities of a Board member. In the Session on Understanding Financial Statements, a very vivid yet crisp explanation was given on the basics of accounting, balance sheets, profit & loss accounts, fundamentals of consolidation of accounts and an introduction of the new Ind – AS.
The participants had several queries on the liabilities of independent director, corporate governance and accounting principles where were answered to their satisfaction by Mr Basu and Mr Mukherjee. Also many of their practical concerns about being on Board were clarified.
All participants were provided with Certifications for attending this Training.
