FLO organised an exclusive interaction with Anoushka Shankar, daughter of Indian sitar maestro Ravi Shankar. The Grammy-nominated musician and global icon is in India to showcase her debut film as a film composer.
Anoushka Shankar interacted with the FLO members and shared her about her journey as an artist, her musical style and the experience of creating music for a film for the first time.
She also spoke about thee expectations from her to have lived up to her legendary father, the world’s most famous sitar player, Ravi Shankar.
Her debut as a composer begins with the restored version of Frank Oztin’s Shiraz (1928) starring Himanshu Rai and Seeta Devi. Shiraz was premiered at The 61st British Film Institute London Film Festival and now the film will tour four Indian cities – Hyderabad, Kolkata, Delhi and Mumbai, where its screening will be accompanied by live performance by the noted sitar player and an orchestral ensemble.
